Tattoos - YAY!!!

So finally - I did it. I just decided that it was time.

I've always wanted a tattoo... and well... I always have collected dragons and fairy creatures.

Statues, paintings and things that are beautiful.

So for Christmas I gave both of us tattoos for our presents.

The first one - the dragon - represents the things that have happened in my life that I have overcome. The dragon itself represents the challenges I have faced and slayed. The pentagram is the symbol of good (when it is complete it will be white - and will have a bit of a different look.) The Pentagram signifies the 5 points of life for me: Spirit (meaning I have a strong spirit - the whole essence of what is me) Earth (meaning I am a part of this earth and have strength, stability, grounding) Fire (for the strength within me, the passion, the promise of beauty), Water (for the calmness within me, the flowing goodness) Air (for the importance of being alive, the ability to think and reason).

The names attached to the scroll surrounding the dragon are those that I love. I will ALWAYS love those people. They are a part of my heart, my soul and my life.

The dragon is not completed yet - but I have to completely heal before it can be completed. It will be MUCH more colorful and it will be much more beautiful when complete. Right now - it is only the essence of what it will be when the artist is done with it.

On the other side - I have the most beautiful fairy I have ever seen.

The artist created it after having spent 2 afternoons with me - he said after he completed it - that this was HIS interpretation of how people viewed ME.

I almost cried.

It is really beautiful and pictures do not do it justice.

The artist did both tattoos freehand and created them on the spot.

I used to think tattoos were only for "CERTAIN" types of people. You know who I mean.

But as I have gotten older - I realized I WANTED something that represented my life - to be with me... something no one could take away from me - artistic and creative - something that imbued that which I am....

And I carefully chose my artist - one who created in a way that I felt represented that which I am.

And after seeing this fairy - I think I made the right decision.

I will show them again after they heal and after they are both completely done.

So - for now - enjoy looking at my almost finished back.

This is almost 16 hours worth of work - keeping in mind that I have a lowered pain tolerance - and I am not capable of sitting through much pain - and these my friends were EXTREMELY Painful.

But I am proud of them so far. And I plan on having them completed - but I need no more tattoos. I have accomplished what I set out to do... To have that which I hold dear - in representation - artistically created on me.

Thoughts for the day - Ebay

Well... Ok.

It's like this...

Uhm... I don't even know where to start. The big H wanted a bass amp.

Great.

Looked around... tried to find one... no luck. Shipping to Alaska is quite possibly more expensive than sending a 20-man team to Mars.

And because I have just started a new craft to keep my mind busy (and yes folks, I will post pictures) I was looking for some beads on Ebay.

Well... about 20 million dollars later and a headache from staring at the screen, I have come to realize that I really am NOT made out of money - but I certainly do Want want want want want want everything there is on Ebay.

I think that I must have some sort of neurosis or something.

OTHER PEOPLE'S JUNK --- well... for some strange odd reason, it INTERESTS me.

I spent hours and hours and egads, I don't know, maybe a few more hours than that - looking at absolutely nothing but other people's things. And it was enlightening to know that I wanted it. For what reason? I couldn't begin to even explain it - not to you... Not to myself.

I don't have any room in my house right now - everything from the campground is everywhere still. (If you haven't read about our wild night Tree ride from heck, read a couple posts down. It was quite amusing... sort of. *GRIN*)

And everything is still damp. And because it's still raining here, and humid, we can't put it away until it is completely dried or it will mold.

So hanging where my pretty underthings should be are sleeping bags, woolen blankets, pillows, canvas bags... I sort of feel like we just went through a natural disaster. I mean, boxes everywhere piled. You have to understand: we literally move our whole house - minus the furniture... and well maybe some of that goes too... when we go camping. So when we left until daylight and the tarp was ripped and the rain decided to dump during those few hours... well - everything in the tent got wet.

I've never had an adventure like this before - so it ranks up there on the amusing scale. But the navigation in some areas of the house - well - it's also amusing.

Anyhow... Back to Ebay.

I actually bought a bunch of beads. A LOT OF BEADS.

And I got a Tanzanite stone (loose) for 12.00 with shipping and handling. I have NO earthly idea what I'm going to do with a Tanzanite stone. But like I said - I like other people's junk (as if I don't have enough of my own junk!!!!)

I bought the beads to make jewelry - because that is my new profession.

I'm finding that beading necklaces, bracelets and earrings is very creative. Also very expensive.

And this is the broke month until next month.

Oh - but I did find a smashing deal on a bass amp for the Big H.

Don't tell him - but I bought someone else's junk for him too!

I hope he likes it as much as I do!

Anyhow - toodles until I decide to type out something when I'm bored again.

The dark picture was the first picture at 5 am ish when we got out - so that's what it looked like - and trust me - we didn't look for a flashlight first - LMAO!

Anyhow - it snapped the poles - as you can see.

Totally Trippy - now almost 24 hours later, the adrenaline is gone as we realized we just escaped death - and are actually thinking about camping again.

The Witch - The Tent and the Tree

There are days you wonder how much luck you've used up.

Oh yes...

This morning was ONE of those days.

While camping peacefully in the Outback of Alaska - the Witch woke up this morning with something hitting her on the head.

Oh yes... On the head, I said.

Well... here - take a look and you'll understand.

Other than a huge bump on the side of my head I'm fine...

Hubby didn't even wake up until I kicked him with my one leg that was free from under the branch.

Where the tree fell - it was at our feet on a queen airbed - The bed was fine... Hubby didn't notice till I kicked him. It had hit the center bar in the tent - which fell onto my head - and woke me up so quickly that I had an asthma attack right away!

We stood up as much as we could - holding the tent over our heads and pushing it up. Since the tree fell at the door, we had to kind of push the tree up - so we could unzip our way out.

I just wanted out... OUT... OUT...

Anyhow - we got out - in a matter of a minute or two - and took a look at all the other trees swaying around and decided to go home - and come back and get everything else - since it was still dark when it happened around 5 am this morning.

Just for side information it was a Coleman Max 8 Cabin Tent - and we think the tree hit it dead on center - at the top - and the pole must have hit my head - and also made the tree sort of roll down to the front of the tent. We'd like to think that the tent saved our lives.

Well - that was my excitement for the day.

My head hurts on the side - but the pupils are equal and reactive to light - and I don't have blurred vision or anything other than a "bruisey" feeling.

I suppose I should be VERY thankful that I only have to buy a new tent.... Kind of a bummer - but We're ok - and 99% of our stuff - besides the tent is ok.

Life isn't too bad.

We went back - the park rangers had chainsawed the tree off of our tent - an we got our stuff... Little wet... LMAO!

Ok - so I have a dripping house right now.

But - we're alive and it was an amusing story...

Strange - the hubby's first statement was:

"I guess that answers that question... You know? The one about if a tree falls..."

Yes. I kicked him.

But what was even stranger was the comment he made as we were walking around outside the tent for a few moments trying to get our heads together in the pounding rain and roaring winds...

"Maybe we're dead, and we just don't know it - and we're walking around here...."

With the misty rain - the dark and no one else around --- no lights - it was a scary thought...

And yes.

I kicked him for that one too.
